“Real Stories, Real Impact.”

A Warm and Nurturing Presence

Talia has a wonderful, fun, and bubbly personality that I really like. She brings a warm, nurturing, almost ‘mum-like’ presence, which is lovely. I did notice that she found it a little more challenging to connect with the boys, particularly Koby. Since Koby can struggle with assertiveness and may become resistant when he feels demands are being placed on him; especially by people he doesn’t know well—Talia might benefit from practicing declarative language to support her interactions with him. I also observed that Koby is very sensitive to body language, and when he began showing signs of escalation, her stance came across as a little intimidating. Adjusting this approach could help him feel more at ease moving forward.

Building Skills, Building Confidence

Kendyll has a kind and approachable nature, and I see a lot of potential in him. He is engaging well with the boys, but I feel he is still building his confidence. With the right guidance, I believe he could continue to grow into a great support worker. Shadowing someone like Josh could help him further develop his skills and gain a deeper understanding of how to navigate different situations effectively.

Building Connections with Patience

Jayden has been great very calm and relaxed, and he puts in a real effort to engage with the boys. I appreciate his approach, and I think with more time, he’ll continue to build confidence in working with them.

Support Workers Who Make a Difference

As you know, I’m really happy with Josh. He has a natural ability to connect with the boys, and his body language and communication are consistently calm and reassuring. From the very beginning, he engaged with them effortlessly and always seems genuinely present and invested. He’s an excellent asset to the team and a great example of what works well in our environment.

I also really like Rhyley. He has a calm and gentle demeanor, which has been really effective with the boys. He has done well in engaging them, and it was great to see him interacting in a way that encouraged fun and connection like when they were running around in fancy dress. Seeing the boys laughing and enjoying themselves with him was really lovely.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Steph

During my visit to get a new service agreement for Kelly signed, I took a moment to share how incredibly thankful I am for the support Steph provides to Kelly. Steph is truly valued by both Kelly and me. One of her greatest strengths is how she helps Kelly maintain the independence she’s built while also inspiring her to build even more capacity. Kelly responds really well to Steph’s guidance and support. I can’t express enough how much Steph has made a difference, and I truly hope she stays with Unique Support forever to continue supporting Kelly.

It makes my heart smile to see him so happy.

I’ve never seen Jereme so relaxed and happy as I did when I visited his new home last week. I was there with his dad, the L2 Support Coordinator, and USS support staff. I was really impressed by how well his new home was set up—it looked fantastic! Despite having three other adults in the house, Jereme remained calm and content, which was remarkable. Normally, he would escalate in situations like that, so it was a huge difference to see him so at ease.

USS has truly done an amazing job making Jereme’s transition as smooth as possible. The attention they’ve given to his individual needs, along with the care for his whole team, has been exceptional. The communication with stakeholders has been clear, and the quality of reporting done in such a short time frame was impressive. Leanne’s exact words were, “It makes my heart smile to see him so happy.”

Looking back, I can confidently say that moving to USS has been the best thing for Jereme and his family.
